In a nutshell a single camera technique is when a scene is filmed with only one camera and these shots are then edited to appear as one fluent scene for example scrubs, sex in the city, games of thrones, prison break, the office, everybody hates Chris and modern family
In the production games of throne which is a adventure fantasy serial drama, this show is about seven noble families fighting over the land of Westeros, this show is filled with action, suspense, conspiracy theories, betrayal, lust for power. The series is based on author George R. R. Martin's best-selling A Song of Ice and Fire series of seven planned fantasy novel
31.1 Researching and Analysing a Social Action and Community Project
Watch at least three social action documentaries of varying genres. Create a blog post that analyses each documentary (at least 600 words). In your blog you MUST a) explain the purpose of each documentary (e.g. changing attitudes; raise awareness; create access to media production for non-traditional groups; challenge dominant representations and agendas, etc.) b) explain the impact of social action in each documentary i.e. what impact does the documentary have on society c) explain the techniques used in the documentary (i.e. by the producer) to help create social action and community media production work with some assistance
a) Social action is when a group of people come together to make a positive change, social action is a form of adverting a specific topic which isn't commonly spoken about.social action involves people giving their time and other resources for the common good, in different forms for example from volunteering and community-owned services to community organising or simple neighbourly acts. media provide a vital alternative to the profit-oriented agenda of corporate
media. They are driven by social objectives rather than the private, profit motive.
They empower people rather than treat them as passive consumers, and they nurture local knowledge rather than replace it with standard solutions.
Community media contributes to peoples’ empowerment to improve their social and economic conditions, fight against discrimination and racism, become more effectively involved in the democratic development of their community and country, some examples of community media are television, radio, prints The first documentary which I have chosen is 31/2 minutes 10 bullets the purpose of this documentary is to raise awareness that every life is valuable and everyone should be treated with dignity and respect regardless of there religion, race, gender, disabilty and to make people aware that 'black lives matter' Jordan Davis was shot 10 times because he was a black man, this documentary was made to also change attitudes of people, the aim is that after reading this documentary it will lead to less shootings of innocent people just because of there differences. At the close of the trial, Dunn was sentenced to 90 years in prison after being found guilty of three counts of attempted murder.3 1/2 minutes is a boulder of racial profiling, entitlement and gun violence, this document is to educate on what racial profiling is and why it needs to be stopped as its leading to many deaths of innocent people.Watching this documentary has lead to people going out and becoming much more aware of it therefore its more likely to become less common, it a warning to people that racism still exists, the death of Jordan Davis lead to the public shaping the national dialogue and policy, The issue of race permeates virtually every aspect of the criminal justice process. Human Rights Watch has reported extensively on racial disparities within the US criminal justice system intimate and moving 3½ Minutes, when looking at the media production side of this
Another impact which i believe this documentary has impact on society as it educates people on human rights,it also got many people together standing up for what they believe is right.this incident gave journalists and book witters something interesting to read about it,this case was even made into a film which came out after the death of jordan this film raises serious questions about how black men are viewed in society and examines the use of self-defense,this documentary helped grab the attention of the community, the biggest aim is for local and change in America, this documentary could also help to strengthen the community as they all have one objective they can all hold onto a solve, which would be to reuse the amount of racism. This documentary has lead to many campaigns. This campagain was made by a individual called marc silver not an organisation
In this documentary by ian f.blair, ive noticed there are many media techniques which have been used for example he included long shot shots of people holding up posters with writing on it showing that they are standing up for there rights and how the death of Jordan wasn't fair,he has also shown images of zoom in shots to portray the emotions of people after finding out about this case
the impact of this documentary is that racism in Florida in America has decreased from the time of this documentary was released and when the shooting happened in 2012

The second documentary which I have choosen is "this changes everything" this is based on a sustainability, it portrays the seven communities who have to battle against the fossil fuel industry this is due to climate change, the purpose of this documentary is to simply raise awareness, this documentary was made to raise awareness of how serious climate change is and the effects of it, the purpose of this documentary could also be to educate individuals who might not be aware of how they are contrubing to climate change or what it actually is .This documentary was created by a man called Avi Lewis, presents seven powerful portraits of communities on the front lines, from the Montana’s Powder River Basin to the Alberta Tar Sands, from the coast of South India to Beijing and beyond.Klein's narration are people connecting the carbon in the air with the economic system, one of the main purposes of this documentary is to inspire a powerful global, creating this documentary kilen probably hoped to change many peoples attitudes,so those indivuals who thought that by burning fossils it didn't have an impact on anything, its alerted them of all the possible problems which occur with this. This documentary aims to promote positivity and it is forcefully confirming that the Earth is in danger and offering ways to make correction, the writer of this documentary obviously hopes that this will enable people to have a positive outlook for a world in which even a mention of climate change can elicit both despair and controversy.
The impact of social action on this documentary is that by a group of people coming and standing up for what they believe is right in this case reducing climate change, the people in this documentary speck out using statisics which is makes it more eyeopening for people watching this documentary and grabs peoples attention.By people protesting they is another way of rasing awareness
throughout this documentary the producer has used many techniques in order to create social action and community media for instanse the producer has used images in order to illustrate the effect that gobal warming is having on society,in the documerty obrama specks about what will happen if nothing takes action and he is a very important person in america as he is president of america, even the low music which is used in parts of the documentary which in implys that the producer is touching on a serious subject. The documentary consists of many people all around the world explaining what they go through due to climate change,it also shows some coummites coming together and protesting, showing other coummities coming to together this will inspire other coummities to do the same. The camera angles which the producer has used help to make the images much more graphic for the audience for example a close up was protary the people in the documeantaries emotions this is effective as it helps to create a emotional connection with the audience, the producer has used producer has used narrativive this is shown when the indvivuals in the documentary are speaking directly to the viewers, whilst watching this documentary i have noticed there are special effects and graphical images which have been used they are there to illustrate the damage which has been mad due to climate change, there were also interviews where different people around the world spoke about how climate change has an effect on them i believe that this is effective as it allows the audience to see many peoples perspectives.
Throughout the documenrty Klein builds to her most controversial and exciting idea: that we can seize the existential crisis of climate change to transform our failed economic system into something radically better there are many individuals which contrubed
the last social action documcery which i have choosen is kony 2012,this documentary is all about the crimes and human rights abuses committed by a Ugandan warlord named Joseph Kony and his fighters from the Lords Resistance Army, became a surprise viral video hit two years ago, this story is all about a man called joseph kony who physically abused inocident children, the girls into sex slaves and killing the girls who don't comply. The main purpose of this documentary is to raise awareness, so that the world becomes aware of whats going on in the world, another purpose of the documentary is to promote charities, by promoting the charities, kony also aims to make a movement to make Ugandan cult and militia leader, indicted war criminal and the International Criminal Court fugitive Joseph Kony globally known in order to have him arrested by the end of 2012, when the campaign expired,Kony 2012 also aims to change the attitudes of many people as some people many not realise how important this topic is,and the impacts it lead to
charities, kony also aims to make a movement to make Ugandan cult and militia leader, indicted war criminal and the International Criminal Court fugitive Joseph Kony globally known in order to have him arrested by the end of 2012, when the campaign expired,Kony 2012 also aims to change the attitudes of many people as some people many not realise how important this topic is,and the impacts it lead to.Kony 2012 aims to bring all of konys crimes to the light and get konys name known there doing this by targeting 20 culture makers to speck out about kony and make him famous. The documentary aims to get people emotionally invested early by focusing on two individuals, this documentary also aims to convince the us government to help train the Ugandan Army to arrest Joseph Kony.Doing this campaign was would hopefully bring awareness to konys human rights abuses and to bring him to justice, they also wanted to ensure that all communities in Uganda were protected which is why they put in place programmes, these programmes counteract LRA volence and protect coummunities in south africa, they hoped that this campaign would get as many people as possible to promise that they will put alot of effort in to support and stop lra volience, they also tried to take interactional action by having leaders from across the globe to renew there commitments to stopping joseph kony and the lra
There are many techniques which have been used in order to create social action, firstly in the documentary we hear views of many people, there was also direct and indirect interviews, where Adam is talking about what he has experienced in his village and other people talk about there options on this issue. The director has also shown many different camera angles for example near the end of the video a bird eye view was used to give a phyological effect of the amount of people who are taking part in this campaigns,a close up has also been used several times to allow the audience to see emotions of the people in Adams village and the other people who are specking out. This documentary often refers back to statics for example at the beginning of the documentary when they state there are more people on facebook than there were on the planet 200 years ago,the images which have been inserted in this documentary all have different filters some which are black and white
